The Freight Trains module

This module handles freight trains in the system. The main screen of the module contains a list of all passenger trains in the current traffic outline. Trains are displayed in a class-dependant color. The following data is listed for a train:

  • train number,
  • train class,
  • departure and arrival station
  • departure and arrival times.

The selected train is also detailed by means of additional information: data on train designation, comments, consist-related data. The list of trains may be filtered by train number, train class, the railroad operator or the regional subsidiaries which make up the station network.

A freight train may be detailed by adding the information below:

  • train class (consignment of goods, operational, container shipment etc.);
  • railroad operator;
  • marshalling and break-up times;
  • braking and set-off times;
  • maximum speed of rolling stock;
  • brake mass degrees;
  • brake type and the type of wagons which make up the trainset;
  • train numbers, for each number of the train a title is associated;
  • trainset composition for each regional subsidiary en route;
  • the train running time.

A large part of user interaction with this program is dedicated to using the train route editor. This is why the editor provides the following features:

  • automatic input of the station list up to the first branching;
  • automatic editing of cells in the station chart;
  • automatic, display-dependant resizing of the editor etc.

In the station list chart of a train, the following data is displayed:

  • station name (the station is derived from the geography database);
  • distance from the current station to the previous station;
  • aggregate distance;
  • maximum speed of the train;
  • maximum speed by order rules; in this column, maximum train speed is computed automatically according to order rules. The end result takes into account the geography-specific gradient and the appendix stating brake percentages;
  • commercial/assumed speed of the train (the haul/running time ratio);
  • track assigned;
  • slack, detention, running, and dwell times;
  • arrival/departure of the train in/from each station;
  • train number in each station;
  • data on train load capacity and length;
  • traction type.

The following operations are available in this module:

  • adding, editing, deleting a train;
  • duplicating a train;
  • consist interchanges;
  • viewing diagrams and traffic fields where a train features;
  • synchronizing the train list with the server;
  • transferring a train from one outline to the other.

In this module, the user may issue the following reports:

  • reports on trains for the working timetable in A4 and A5 paper sizes;
  • reports with an all-included list of trains or one section in the train list;
  • reports on traffic indicators per regional subsidiaries and trains;
  • reports on trains staggered on a per hour basis.
